About Us

Margot has always been taken by Mother Nature’s ability to produce precious stones, and the skilled hands that form them into glittering gems. Her certification as a Gemologist from Gemological Institute of America led to her working in sales and dealings of precious and semi-precious stones all over the world.  Through her travels, she realized her true passion lay in the intimate relationships she developed with her clients, which led to her establishing her namesake private fine jewelry company over 35 years ago.  The company has grown exclusively through referrals and word of mouth into a global network of fine jewelry purveyors.

Sam’s keen design eye, honed from working in fashion in New York City, first caught Margot’s attention as they were designing Sam’s engagement ring together as a client.  Their relationship grew into an apprenticeship to educate Sam on the inner workings of the jewelry and diamond industry that only experience can truly teach. Sam’s passion for creating and designing beautiful bespoke pieces grew into Friend & Firestone as it now exists. With her recent move to Santa Barbara, Sam has helped expand the business by more intimately serving Southern California clientele.

Hailey is the newest addition to the Friend & Firestone team. Her career began in fine jewelry in New York, working for a sustainable fine jewelry designer.  As one of the first members of that team, she developed design, production, and branding for the company as it grew to an international brand. After moving back to the Bay Area and completing her Master’s in Business Administration, she continued to work with friends and family to advise and design jewelry, from engagement rings to celebratory pieces. Her passion for design and a serendipitous meet-cute with Margot landed her as the third member of the Friend & Firestone team, managing production and design for their clients out of their San Francisco office.
